Future Development  ( Estimated cost of all the development projects Rs. 3035 crores.)

 

The anticipated traffic by 2011-12 is 78 MT necessitating augmentation of port capacity by 63 MT.

Accordingly the following projects have been formulated for augmentation  of capacity.

DEEPENING OF CHANNELS

  • Phase-I deepening of the entrance channel and turning circle of Inner harbour to facilitate navigation of Panamax vessels with 11 mtrs. draft vessels completed.

  • Phase-II deepening of inner harbour and turning circle to facilitate  handling Panamax vessels upto 12.5 meters draft at inner harbour berths (Expected date of completion : July 2010).

  • Phase -III deepening of inner harbour and turning circle to facilitate handling of Panamax vessels upto 14 meters draft at inner harbour berths (Expected date of completion : March 2011).

  • Deepening of Outer Harbour to cater to 200,000 DWT vessels (2011).

CONSTRUCTION/RE-CONSTRUCTION OF BERTHS AND MECHANISATION.

  • Upgradation of Iron Ore handling facilities of Outer Harbour to cater 200,000 DWT vessels.

  • Strengthening of 8 berths to cater to 12.5 mtrs. draft vessels.

 

PROJECTS UNDER PPP/BOT

  • Development of the berth WQ-6 for handling multi cargoes at inner harbour.

  • Development of the berth EQ-10 for handling liquid cargoes and chemicals at inner harbour.

  • Mechanized coal handling facility at general cargo berth at outer harbour to handle 200,000 DWT vessels.

  • Mechanized unloading facilities for fertilizers in inner harbour (EQ-7).

  • Revamping of OR-1 & OR-II.

  • Development of East Docks in inner harbour.

  • Extension of the existing container terminal.

  • Development of SBM facility (M/s HPCL).

  • Construction of WQ-7 & WQ-8 berth including mechanization of berths for handling alumina on captive basis.

LOGISTICS IMPROVEMENTS
  • Hiring of 2 nos. harbour mobile cranes of 60 Ton Capacity.

  • Improvement to internal road net work in the operational area by constructing road fly overs, 4 lane road, strengthening of existing roads, provision of additional access to NH-5.

  • Development of road infrastructure / fly over bridges in phase.

  • Development of stacking area at East Yard dumps

  • Procurement of 2 No's. 50  T tugs.

  • Procurement of 25 T cranes.

  • Procurement of 3100 HP Loco.

  • Procurement of  Launches/Barges/Oil recovery craft.

  • Modernization of railway siding facilities.

  • Modernization of Ore Handling Complex (Replacement of Stacker/BWR etc.)

  • Development of New Railway interchange yard (Mindi).

  • Transit Truck Terminal.

  • Upgradation of Information Technology including ERP Solutions.
