56.39 MT of traffic was handled during April 06 to March 2007 as
against 55.8 MT handled during corresponding period of previous year.

Record in monthly cargo throughput by Handling 5.83 Million Tonnes in
October 2007.

RECORD
ACHIEVEMENT OF 4 WHEELER WAGONS:
-
The
Waltair railway division achieved a record loading of 3222.5 units of
4-wheeler wagons at Port of Visakhapatnam in a day on 21-09-2008, the
best so far in the last three years.

ALL
TIME RECORD THROUGHPUT IN A DAY:
-
The
Port of Visakhapatnam has established an all time record throughput in
a day. A quantity of 4.09 lakh tonnes of traffic was handled in a day
on 25.03.2008 surpassing the previous record of 4.05 lakh tonnes
achieved on 25.04.2007. The traffic in the current fiscal is likely to
cross 64 million tonnes - an all time high in the history of the port.

Other
important events:

The additional link road connecting to the National Highway ( NH-5 )
with operational areas is operational with effect from 14-12-2006.

The Port has successfully berthed one panamax vessel M.V. GOLDENGUN at EQ-7 berth in the inner harbour on
17-02-2007.

For the first time in
the history of VPT a Large Gas carrier M.V. MAHARSHI BHARADWAJ with
LOA 219.89mts., beam 34.20 mtrs., DWT 59421 and with a draft of 10.9
mtrs., has been berthed at a LPG berth on 23-12-2007.

A
Quantity of 29.9 lakh tonnes of Fertilisers was handled during
2007-08 (upto January 2008) surpassing the previous highest record
of 26.2 lakh tonnes handled during the entire year 2006-07.

Quantity of 3085000 tonnes Finished Fertilizers handled
during 2007-2008 (1st April 2007 to 22nd
February 2008)

visakhapatnam has successfully nagivated one vessel M.V. NORD
ENDEAVOUR with 11 mtrs. Draft in to inner harbour at 16.25 hrs on
10-10-2008
RECORD DISCHARGE OF AMMONIUM NITRATE IN A DAY
The Port of Visakhapatnam has established an all time record in
unloading of Ammonium Nitrate in a day. A quantity
of 8174 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate was discharged in a day on
19.12.2009 from the vessel m.v.PONTONOSTOS at
East Quay-7 surpassing the previous best discharge of 7007 tonnes on
24.03.2009
RECORD LOADING OF C.P.COKE IN A DAY
The port Visakhapatnam has established an all time record in
loading of C.P.COKE in a day. A quantity of
12,222
tonnes of C.P. Coke was loaded in a day on 08-01-2010 into the
vessel m.v. OXYGEN at East
Quay-7
surpassing the previous best loading of 12,043 tonnes on 29-12-2006.
M/s S.S.B.T. are the Stevedores and M/s Eshwar Shipping Services are
the Steamer Agents for the above vessel
RECORD LOADING OF FLY ASH BAGS IN A DAY
The Port of Visakhapatnam has established an all time record in
loading of Fly Ash Bags in a day. A quantity
of
3357 tonnes of Fly Ash Bags was loaded in a day on 08-01-2010 into
the vessel m.v. HAE SONG at East Quay -2
(N) surpassing the previous best loading of 3176 tonnes on
22-02-2008.
M/s Integral Trading Limited are the Stevedores and Steamer Agents
for the above vessel.
RECORD LOADING OF IRON ORE IN A DAY
The Port of Visakhapatnam has established an all time record in
loading of iron ore in a day. A quantity of
34533 tonnes of iron ore was loaded in a day on 08.02.2010 into the
vessel m.v. YUAN SHUN HAI at
West Quay -3 berth surpassing the previous best loading of 33116
tonnes on 22.01.2009.
The cargo was exported by M/s. Ispat Industries
M/s. SICAL Logistics are the Stevedores and M/s Sree Binni Shipping
are the Steamer Agents for the above
Vessel.
RECORD LOADING OF THERMAL COAL IN A DAY
The Port of Visakhapatnam has established an all time record in
loading of Thermal Coal in a day. A quantity
of 30,600 tonnes of Thermal Coal of M/s TNEB Chennai was loaded on
28.2.2010 into the vessel m.v.TAMIL ANNA
at West Quay -2 surpassing the previous best loading of
28,332 tonnes on 10.2.2010.
M/s. S.I.C (L). are the Stevedores and M/s SEAPORT
SHIPPING PVT LTD are the Steamer Agents for the above
vessel.
RECORD DISCHARGE OF CHROMITE ORE IN BULK IN A DAY
The Port of Visakhapatnam has established an all time record in
unloading of Chromite ore in bulk in a day.
A quantity of 6,040 tonnes of Chromite ore of M/s Vishnu Chemicals
Limited, Visakhapatnam was discharged
on 25.02.2010 from the vessel m.v. MICRO at EQ-1 surpassing
the previous best discharge of 5,810 tonnes
on 20.10.2007.
M/s. J.M.BAXI are the stevedores and M/s. UNITED LINER
AGENCIES OF INDIA are the steamer Agents for the
above vessel.
