Cargo Throughput: April 06 to March 2007

56.39 MT of traffic was handled during April 06 to March 2007 as against 55.8 MT handled during corresponding period of previous year.
National Record in monthly cargo throughput by Handling 5.83 Million Tonnes in October 2007.
ALL TIME RECORD THROUGHPUT IN A DAY:
The Port of Visakhapatnam has established an all time record throughput in a day. A quantity of 4.09 lakh tonnes of traffic was handled in a day on 25.03.2008 surpassing the previous record of 4.05 lakh tonnes achieved on 25.04.2007. The traffic in the current fiscal is likely to cross 64 million tonnes - an all time high in the history of the port.

Other important events:

The additional link road connecting to the National Highway ( NH-5 ) with operational areas is operational with effect from 14-12-2006.
The Port has successfully berthed one panamax vessel M.V. GOLDENGUN at EQ-7 berth in the inner harbour on 17-02-2007.
For the first time in the history of VPT a Large Gas carrier M.V. MAHARSHI BHARADWAJ with LOA 219.89mts., beam 34.20 mtrs., DWT 59421 and with a draft of 10.9 mtrs., has been berthed at a LPG berth on 23-12-2007.
A Quantity of 29.9 lakh tonnes of Fertilisers was handled during 2007-08 (upto January 2008) surpassing the previous highest record of 26.2 lakh tonnes handled during the entire year 2006-07.
A Quantity of 3085000 tonnes Finished Fertilizers handled during 2007-2008 (1^st April 2007 to 22^nd February 2008)
